Weymouth: gutters

Happy National Gutters Day to all who celebrate!

Every year, the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB for short) promotes National Maintenance Week to remind building owners that this is the perfect time to get your buildings ready for the long cold winter months to come. This has been that week (25 – 29 November 2025). The culmination of National Maintenance Week, the Friday, is designated National Gutters Day and, as I am a big fan of gutters – or, more correctly, gutter hoppers – I always try to share some of the hopper images I've taken during the year.

Today's gutter photos were taken during my summertime visits to the Dorset seaside town of Weymouth. The first two photos were of some of the town's older houses, and the three below are from the Church of St John the Evangelist, a church that also has some stunning gargoyles (see my blog Weymouth: St John's gargoyles, 17 September).
